Perimeter Institute (PI) is an internationally recognized centre for theoretical physics. The quantum information group comprises 3 faculty who are full time at PI, plus 4 associate faculty (shared with IQC), as well as several faculty in closely aligned areas. We typically host about 10 quantum information postdocs at the institute. We work closely with the Institute for Quantum Computing, located a 20 min walk away, including through our joint faculty, postdocs, and conferences, shared social events, and more.
Perimeter has broad expertise across many areas of quantum information. A particular emphasis at PI is the interface between quantum information broadly and its connections to physics-driven problems. For instance, we have highly active groups working at the interface of quantum information and quantum matter, at the interface of quantum information and quantum gravity, and exploring computational aspects of statistical and thermal physics. While we have a physics emphasis, computer scientists and mathematicians are always welcome in the group.
The current group administrator is Alex May.
